Mmm – For any of you who know me realize I love writing crime dramas probably more than the erotic pieces. There’s nothing better to me than men and women fighting for what’s right – good versus evil. I graduated from highschool at 16 – having been in the talented and gifted program – and I had to do my English thesis on the power of good versus evil in relation to Camelot. There’s such an incredible dichotomy about such a beautiful land and the evil as well as moments of betrayal that expound from every character. In case you didn’t gather – I enjoy dark and dangerous in all things.
So I write crime drama in a gritty way – some said I write like a man. Some say I think like a man. Some say I am just twisted. Hmm… Well, what I do like to do it drag you to hell and the very edge of your sanity then rip you back to reality. That’s me writing as DH Black. And that’s me writing as Cassandre – when she indulges in her paranormal realm. BUT… my detectives are all flawed and hell bent on destroying themselves. They may or may not know what their behavior is doing to them and all the others around them.
We love characters who honestly can’t adhere to society and all the bullshit. Or is that just me? As I get older I realize I suffer fools less. I get to live out all the crazy and sometimes sick things I’d like to do to man in my stories. Does that scare you? Mmm… I was just asked the question – can sex be deadly and too erotic? My quick answer is HELL YEAH. It’s my nature and need and it’s my birthday today so I thought I’d give a birthday gift to you. First five people who tell me their favorite book and why get two ARC’s – anything you want.
And I am bringing you a gift I received from Carl J. Franklin, the fabulous cover artist for Rebel Ink Press. My next HOT m/m collection coming soon. Take a peek and tell me if I like my characters gritty and dark… A taste of the first two
What sins of the flesh do you hunger for and exactly what would you offer in order for a taste?
For entrepreneur Taynen Salinger, Sin City meant more than simply paying homage to the sizzling desert town. The highly respected and equally selective firm, catering to men who lived vicariously every day, had made him a millionaire. A tough taskmaster, anonymity was the name of the game in a town where mistakes could prove to be deadly. Providing everything from well-coiffed escorts for premier events to the kinkiest of fantasies, only the amount of monies spent held any inhibition. His employees were hand picked and specially trained in the areas of art and music, politics and finance, fine dining and wine – as well as the black arts of BDSM.
For the men of distinction, protecting a town ridden with questionable politics, crime-ridden streets and difficult financial times, Sin City was more than just a respite. Only Taynan’s carefully selected men seemed to soothe the savage beasts dwelling inside his clients. For some of his customers, understanding the ramifications of certain decisions made had proven to be costly, yet the men came back for more. However, in a town where everything is on the menu for a loaded price, what happens within the hallowed city limits must stay locked inside Pandora’s Box. Or else…
For Cody Wallace, life as an undercover DEA agent had garnered him respect, but he was weary from enduring the seedy life on the ugly streets of Las Vegas. His last case had taken him deep inside a family of drug lords for almost two years. Battle weary and hungry for companionship, finding a lover who could tolerate his arrogance and desire for the darker side of sex had proven to be next to impossible. A secret recommendation had brought him to Sin City and he was instantly taken with the owner’s personal selection. After all, the man personified dark and dangerous.
Ruger Collins was an ex-Green Beret and was well versed in methods of torture. Known as the toughest of the Sin City men, he specialized in providing aspects of perceived peril for those craving a moment of euphoria. Few could handle his raw brutality and fewer still came back for more. Cody was the exception. Embarking on a steamy adventure, their time together was cut short when Cody was called back into service. After a series of mistakes proved to be costly for Cody, he was forced to trust Ruger with his life. Drawn into a world of pure evil, the art of deception managed to keep them both alive – that is until one man unraveled the secret and the threat became real.
Zeke Hammond was a man’s man and in the world of firefighting, he was revered. His record was perfect, having never lost a victim, and many said he was on the fast track to becoming Captain. Unfortunately his own personal demons kept him from the possibility of being happy. Keeping secrets was a damning concept. Having found his last lover in the arms of another man, he was in no mood to try dating again. But he was ready for pure sin. After a chance meeting at a local pub with a rugged hunk, who was more than just stimulating his mind, Zeke was given a personal invitation. Sin City seemed to be the perfect solution for all his needs.
For Russian born, Aleksandyr Vatone, working for Taynen Salinger was perfect, allowing him to pursue his other “interests” during his off time. After meeting Zeke, handsome and yet so very tortured, he set out to provide a perfect sizzling fantasy. Little did he know the rugged man would be able to get under his skin so easily. As they embarked on a caustic tryst, he began to reveal his most private secrets. Unfortunately a mystery blackmailer from Aleksandyr’s past threatened to reveal the man behind in the mask. As a cloak and dagger game hit too close to home, an explosive event occurred, forcing Zeke to make a series of difficult choices. One in particular placed both their lives on a dangerous precipice and the fires of hell threatened to consume Zeke’s very soul. Only Aleksandryr could possibly save him but was he already lost to the burn?
Mmm – hungry for the darkness?
